Make a fabric mask that leaves a pocket of air around your nose and mouth, but has a nice seal all around! I made quite a few for friends and family and so far they're quite well received.

For the filter layer, go to your neighbourhood crafts shop and ask for Heat N Bond Sew-In Non-woven Interfacing Midweight, or a similar product.

If you don't have a yarn needle, you can also add the elastic in while you're sewing the channels. If you don't want to fiddle with the silicon stoppers, you can tie the elastics shorter to fit your face.

For the outer fabric, measure 2" from each corner and cut. Best to use a high quality cotton, like quilter's cotton for the outer fabric; it gives the mask better structure, allowing it to stand away from your face and also filters better.

For the inner layer, use something skin-friendly. I live in the tropics, so I use lawn cotton.

The seam allowance I use is the edge of the sewing machine foot, which is about 0.7cm. When it comes to the top stitching, it'll be narrower, about 0.4cm.

How much to fold the channel in? To the tip of the little triangle you'll see on the mask, formed by the lining fabric.
