If you're filling out an online dating profile and it asks you for your zodiac sign -- are you a Pisces or a Capricorn? -- leave it blank. Because anyone who cares what sign you are is probably not someone you'd want to date in the first place.

How do we know your horoscopes are all made up? I'll give you a bunch of answers.

1) Do a little experiment. Next time you see a horoscope in a newspaper, cover up the zodiac signs and just read the descriptions. See if you can figure out which one is yours... you'll probably get it right 1 out of every 12 times.

2) If you read a bunch of horoscopes for your sign in several different newspapers, they're all gonna be different. If astrology were true, wouldn't you think they'd say roughly the same thing?

3) Here's another experiment. If someone you know really believes in astrology, tell them you're a different sign from what you really are. And watch their reaction. "I'm an Aquarius" "I KNEW IT! You're really outgoing and smart!" "I'm totally kidding. I'm actually a Virgo. Nice try, though."

4) They always written very vaguely so that they apply to everyone. "All sorts of changes lie in store for you," "You've been very stressed and should think about taking a vacation," "A special surprise is on the way"... No kidding. On all of those things.

5) Horoscopes are supposedly based on the alignment of the stars and planets when you were born. Just think about that. Not only does that make no sense -- as if the Sun gives a shit about whether you're risk-taker -- it's not like everyone born under the same sign has the same personality.

6) Also, if the alignment matters because the stars and planets have some sort of gravitational effect on you, realize that the doctor who delivered you had way more of an effect on your birth. Because that's how gravity works.

7) Speaking of which, astrology is all about the day you were born. Which is pretty arbitrary. Like your brain and DNA are already set long before you exited the birth canal. So wouldn't the date of your conception matter a while lot more than the day you move from inside the womb to outside?

8) If the alignment of the planets matter, what happens when we discover new planets in our solar system? Because a few of them have only been found in the past few centuries. And Pluto's not even on the list anymore.

9) Our position relative to the constellations changes over time. So whatever sign you think you are, you're probably off by one from when they came up with the designations.

10) There's this dating website OKCupid and they ask you what sign you are. And five years ago, they thought it would be interesting to see what the match percentages were for people of different signs. The higher the percentage, the more likely you were to hit it off.

11) There's a reason the horoscopes are usually placed right next to the comics section in a newspaper.

12) True story: I used to date someone in high school who now writes horoscopes for magazines you might find in your grocery store. I promise you she's pulling these things out of her ass.
