Weare - 21 Sep 2014: Weare wrapped up it's 2014 celebration at the John Stark Regional High School (JSRHS) with a Commemorative Luncheon. All tickets for the event were sold and students from JSRHS performed several skits with music and acts throughout the event. Principal, Christopher Corkery was the emcee for the program of activities. Corkery noted following the Pledge of Allegience that in early years, it was different. He spoke the words of the Pledge which lacked "Under God"; you could hear a pin drop and nothing more was said. Ticket holders enjoyed a wonderful meal of either a traditional turkey dinner or a New England boiled dinner. The aroma was abound with anticipation to enjoy the spread of food and deserts. A post on the Weare 250th Anniversary Celebration facebook page following the event was; Our last event to celebrate Weare's 250th was yesterday - what a grand event. The food was fabulous and the student of John Stark did a fantastic job with the skits and songs. A grand day all the way around. So many people to thank... We hope that you all enjoyed this celebratory year! WOW - now what to do with the cake??? ..... What to do with the cake? Perhaps reference is made regarding the cake built for the parade. It certainly will not fit in the Historical Museum. Perhaps it could end up on the town common. Either way, the town will figure out something, without doubt. Many thanks were provided to volunteers throughout the year, and for good reason. 2014 was the most eventful ever for this beautiful quaint New England Community.
