What happens when we allow bronze to have direct seawater contact?

We actually abused the Bell & Ross BR03-92 Diver Bronze with sand baths and subjected it to “water torture” by submerging it in the Andaman Sea while at the Four Seasons Resort on the island of Langkawi in Malaysia.

Our video shows actual footage of some of the abuse we hurled upon the Bell & Ross BR03-92 Diver Bronze.

But before we show you the torture, please kindly allow us to explain the bronze material and why it changes colour over time.

For example, what is the difference between copper and bronze? Why does oxidation occur on bronze?

Did you know for instance, that the colour change arising from oxidation results in the patina? Did you also know that the patina is what protects the bronze material underneath it?

What is copper dioxide, copper oxide, azurite, malachite and bronchantite?

After watching the vide and having understood the basics of bronze, perhaps you’ll now have a much better understanding of why it is a “living” material and perhaps how to appreciate it as a watchcase.
