Pattachitra has evolved from the name Sanskrit words Patta, meaning canvas, and chitra, meaning picture.

The name Pattachitra or Patachitra is a general term for traditional, clothe based scroll painting, based in the eastern Indian states of Odisha and West Bengal.

Pattachitra Art form is known for its intricate details as well as mythological narratives and folktales inscribed in it.

These paintings are based on Hindu mythology and specially inspired by Lord Jagannath and Vaishnavas sect. All colours used in paintings are natural and paintings are fully old traditional way by Chitrakaras that is Odiya Painters.
