OpenVAS
An important aspect of server security is being proactive about security screening. If you expose any services to the internet, penetration testing is essential to ensure that you are not vulnerable to known threats.
The Open Vulnerability Assessment System (OpenVAS) is a vulnerability scanner maintained and distributed by Greenbone Networks.

It is intended to be an all-in-one vulnerability scanner with a variety of built-in tests and a Web interface designed to make setting up and running vulnerability scans fast and easy while providing a high level of user configurability.


Metasploit

Metasploit is one of the most powerful tools used for penetration testing. It comes in two versions: commercial and free edition.
As an Ethical Hacker, you will be using “Kali Distribution” which has the Metasploit community version embedded in it along with other ethical hacking tools. But if you want to install Metasploit as a separate tool, you can easily do so on systems that run on Linux, Windows, or Mac OS X.
Metasploit can be used either with command prompt or with Web UI.
