West Wheel 4, Final Day Sunrise Finale Ride! Just earlier in September, I attended the Labor Day Sunrise ride and got a feel for how fast folks in this crew can roll. I also had a taste of riding on SF streets with little to no cars on it, so I was prepared mentally to take on this challenge. On Labor Day, I often got left behind, using shortcuts to keep up with the group and missing chunks of the ride entirely due to not making the rest stops in time. This time was going to be different. No more being left behind...I was going to try my best to apply everything I learned over West Wheel...from smooth carving for solid stability and to break wobbles, maximizing my "happy zone" for foot placement, to superior leverage for max acceleration and braking. keep pace with the group.

I didn't lead the pack, but I did keep up pace. It was exhilarating to zoom and feel natural and at ease with a cruising speed north of 30 mph. At the end, we enjoyed a great bbq and a beautiful sunrise, a fitting ending to such a wonderful week. West Wheel 5 next year should be a blast!!
