MENA American Chamber of Commerce Hosts Successful Roundtable with Turkish Delegation

Southfield, MI – August 23, 2024 – The MENA American Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the success of Friday's roundtable discussion featuring a Turkish Delegation. The event, held at the MENA American Chamber of Commerce Affiliate Hub in Southfield, MI, brought together dignitaries, business owners and organizational stakeholders for a valuable exchange of ideas and insights. Among the dignitaries were Hon. David Roden, Consular Corps President Consul General of South Korea, Dennis Flessland Consul General of Norway, Snezhana Gjorgjieva, PhD, MA, MSc, Consul General of North Macedonia, Daniel Aguado Ornelas, Consular of Mexico (Delegate), Roberto Nicolas Vazquez Consul General of Mexico, Waqqas Albayati representing the Consular General of Iraq.

Event Highlights:

Faye Nemer, CEO of the MENA American Chamber of Commerce, opened the event with a warm welcome, setting the stage for an engaging session.

Ahmet Tekoglu, the Turkish Ambassador’s Commercial Attaché, delivered an informative presentation highlighting Turkey's competencies and capabilities in various industries including the renewable and clean energy, automotive, technology, and healthcare sectors.

Nurten Ural, Honorary Turkish Consul General, shared insights on the Sister Cities program, fostering connections between cities in the U.S. and Turkey. The three sister city pairings introduced are with Lansing, Detroit, and Dearborn. The designation will be accompanied by entering into MOU’s to facilitate trade, manufacturing footprint expansion, and the leveraging of resources.

LED Lion Construction Hussein Mokahal showcased advancements in 3D printed housing.
Enviwa Dr. Mohamad Baydoun, PhD., LEED®Green Associate™ discussed innovations in precious group metals and battery component recovery.
VIVET TECHNOLOGY Amjad Hashem highlighted its role in revolutionizing the manufacturing process.
Global Coalition for Efficient Logistics (GCEL) Under Secretary Gregory Bird presented on global logistics innovations.

Although travel disruptions prevented Ambassador Önal’s attendance, his subsequent recorded keynote address focused on the importance of strengthening economic ties between the U.S. and Turkey, emphasizing mutual benefits and future opportunities.

The event concluded with a networking lunch, sponsored by Turkish Village, with desserts sponsored by Galata Sweets & Mosaic Cakes.

The MENA American Chamber of Commerce is enthused with the outcome of the event and extends its gratitude to Ambassador Sedat Önal, the Turkish Delegation, the Consular Generals, the speakers, and all attendees who contributed to its success.
