Osian is a city located in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan state of India. Osiya has a group of temples on one side and desert on the other side. Here, Jain temple, Sun temple along with other temples are built. Osiya is called the city of temples. At one time there were 108 temples in Osiya. Over time, this number decreased due to various reasons. All the monuments and temples of Osiya were built by the Gurjara Pratihara dynasties between the 8th and 12th centuries. It is said to be a monument of the pre-medieval period. These temples are considered equivalent to the Sun Temple of Orissa and the temples of Khajuraho. Also called "Bhubaneswar of Rajasthan" because of the style of the temples. The ancient names of Ausian were Upkespur, Patannagari and Upkes Patan. Due to the origin of the Oswals, it was named Osian. At present there are 18 monuments and two stepwells located in Osian. There is a Jain temple of Mahavira and the rest Hindu temple in the temples. Ample influence of Gupta art is visible on the art here.
