TGR Philosophy - Transition Roadmap

Since 2019, there has been a growing movement taking place amongst the African Diaspora population living in the Western world. Why are thousands of them deciding to abandon the West and relocate back to Africa and start new lives? In the post-colonial period, we saw a great migration of people from Africa to the West in search of greater economic opportunity; so why are a significant percentage of them deciding to come back home? Why are African Americans, who have spent most of their lives living in the West, suddenly deciding to reconnect with their African heritage and start new lives in the lands of their ancestors?

The Great Return aims to explain this phenomenon. It tries to enumerate the reasons that motivate the African Diaspora. Is there something they have come to realise about themselves and their relationship with Africa that is convincing them to relocate back to Africa? This book not only seeks to articulate the guiding philosophy of this movement coherently and accessibly, but also to encourage more Africans living in the diaspora to engage actively in “The Great Return,” and explain to them how they too can get involved.
