Do you like rocks, cliffs and lookouts? This is a fantastic hiking area with lots of trails, so you can hike quite a distance or just a short way.

There is a parking lot on the east side of the park, and because this is a provincial park, you will need a daily vehicle pass from the Ontario Parks website.

There is a viewing platform and a staircase down into the scenic rock formations. This area is about 2.3 km from the parking lot along the Carriage Trail, up the stairs (these stairs do take you up and down the escarpment), and then north along the Cliff-Top Side Trail.

A beautiful rocky lookout can be found along the Lookout Trail, and there are paths down to the small lake from the McCarsten's Lake Trail.

This park has some hiking trails up on the cliffs of the escarpment and some down below. The parking lot is on the lower level, and there are a few ways to get up and down the escarpment.
1. The stairs on the Carriage Trail
2. The Lookout Trail
3. The Walter Tovell Trail where it joins up with the Cliff-Top Side Trail and the McCarton's Lake Trail
4. The southern part of the Cliff-Top Side Trail
NOTE: The Scenic Rock stairs near the Viewing Platform do not take you down off the escarpment - it is simply for viewing the rock formations and you will need to go back up the stairs

This provincial park also has some of the oldest, intact old-grown white cedar forests in eastern North America.

The Bruce Trail also runs through this park.

One other fun thing that I like to do is collect stickers from Ontario Provincial Parks in their passport book. It is a small book with a page for each provincial park in Ontario, and the parks sell the passport books and stickers to add to the pages once you have visited. Some people prefer to collect patches to sew onto backpacks or camp blankets. You can order the passport books, stickers, and patches online, as well.
