Kia won’t shift out of park FIXED!

Is your Kia stuck in park? Will your Kia not shift out of park when you hit the brakes? Cars with an automatic transmission have safety mechanism that when you don’t press the brake, you can’t shift out of park. This 2010 Kia Forte Koup SX wouldn’t shift out of park when pressing the brake though. It could be a couple different things that aren’t working. Since in is an electrical solenoid that engages the shift lock release, it is looking for an electrical signal from the brake pedal sensor. If that sensor is not working, the shift lock release will not engage on your Kia and you’ll be stuck in park. There is a very easy way to check that though. Have someone press the brakes while you check if your brake lights come on. If they come on, it likely won’t be your brake pedal sensor.
You could also try to listen for a clicking noise by the shifter when press the brake pedal on your Kia. If you do, you’re lucky. I heard that on this car. That meant the shift lock release solenoid is working and it might be a free fix. Free fixes are my favourite by the way.
So, on this car, it was just a screw from that shift lock release solenoid that came lose. But to know how to get shifter unstuck in a Kia, you better just watch the video. If you have the same problem and you follow what I do, you won’t have to worry about can’t shift into gear in Kia. Enjoy the Video!

Channel Overview:

In this channel I will show how to repair your vehicle or other vehicles yourself. I will also show you, teach you some trick what to look for at certain jobs and try to explain the best I can, on why I do it the way I do it. You will see links of the most of the tools and the parts, at good quality and reasonable cost, that I am using in the description of every video (It may be not the exact tool or product, but that has the same function. So, it may be just a different brand). If any torque specs or other specs are mentioned in the video, they will also be found in the description. I am a self-employed mechanic myself, with a garage on my property. So here I am recording how I repair and trying to help you repair your customer vehicles and also how to fix your own vehicle and save a lot of dollars. So, every video is intended to be a great ‘Do It Yourself (DIY)’ tutorial to save money.
