How to fix common Windows network issue 2025

After installing Windows 11 24H2, can you access your NAS, shares or other computers on your LAN?
How do we fix this? And what changed to cause this?

If you do not have Group Policy Editor (as demonstrated in this video), follow this method instead:

Turn off SMB Client Signing With PowerShell (for Windows 11 Home or Pro)

Step 1 - Type PowerShell in the Windows search box on your taskbar.

Step 2 - Select 'Run as administrator' under the Windows PowerShell section.

Step 3. In the command line window, type the following command and press Enter to turn off the SMB signing requirement (okay to copy and paste):

Set-SmbClientConfiguration -RequireSecuritySignature $false

Step 4. Type Y to confirm the operation.

Enable Guest Fallback

Step 5. Input the following command and press Enter to disable guest fallback (okay to copy and paste):

Set-SmbClientConfiguration -EnableInsecureGuestLogons $true

Step 6. Input Y to confirm.
