About the Talk
Many scientific approaches to gender/sex/uality rely on binaries, and are limiting, inaccurate, and a cause of harm, especially to marginalized groups. In this talk, Dr. Sari van Anders discusses new research about gender/sex/uality that is built for and from gender/sex/ual diversity. These approaches include “the gender/sex 3x3” – a new and simple framework for asking about and analysing gender/sex data – and “sexual configurations theory” – an innovative and nuanced approach to modeling, visualizing, and measuring gender/sex/uality. Dr. van Anders highlights how this research provides a science of gender/sex/ual diversity that is more empirical, accurate, and just.
