"Fascination" - A Rolling Ball Sculpture/Automaton Combo

Описание к видео "Fascination" - A Rolling Ball Sculpture/Automaton Combo

Update - this piece is sold.
This piece grew out of my piece, "Interdependence" - but with this piece there's only one figure. The figure is actually the ball lift, as well as part of the track. There are 2 gaps in the track, and she holds her hand in place to fill in the track as the ball proceeds on it's path. Without her, the ball roll would not happen, obviously. I don't think I've ever seen a piece like this - one that combines a RBS with a kinetic figure. That's why I had to do it.
Also, this piece must be perfectly level for the ball to roll at the proper rate. Her head is "programmed" to move in a certain way, (and does not change), what could change is the ball's rate if the piece is not level. I will provide the level I used to the next owner to make sure it's at the same level I calculated.
Over 200 hours start to finish - not counting sleepless nights trying to figure it all out.

Full disclosure - this piece was inspired by Arthur Ganson's "Child Watching Ball" that I saw on VHS tape (that I ordered from Arthur) years and years ago. I think this is Mr. Ganson's most heartwarming piece.    • Child Watching Ball - Arthur Ganson
