NXT Champion Aleister Black was in the ring in June 2018. Tommaso Ciampa interrupted, he said Aleister has something that he wants and challenged him for the title. Tommaso mocked Aleister, who then teased a fight and Tommaso left. Two weeks later, Johnny Gargano told Aleister that he can’t let Tommaso win the title and Aleister said he knows what he’s doing. Then Tommaso ambushed Aleister and hit him with a DDT. Two weeks later, Aleister and Tommaso met for the title. Aleister jumped outside on Tommaso, threw him inside the ring, Tommaso caught him with an apron DDT and Aleister kicked out. Tommaso exposed the concrete floor, he tried to hit Aleister with a DDT but the ref stopped him from doing it. Aleister pushed Tommaso into the ref, who then took a huge bump on the concrete floor. Aleister hit Tommaso with the Black Mass but no ref. Tommaso put his thumb in Aleister’s eye, he took the title and Gargano appeared to hit him with a superkick. Gargano tried to take the title from Tommaso, he hit Aleister in the head with it by mistake and Tommaso threw Gargano out of the ring. Tommaso picked Aleister up and hit him with the Fairy Tale Ending to pin him and to become the new NXT Champion.
