Peat restoration in Ireland | Webinar

The second lunchtime presentation in the 2020/2021 technical programme, focused on the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch’s theme of water and the environment, adapting to change will be given by Francis Mackin (RPS Belfast).

The speakers discussed the importance of peatland conservation and management and its potential use as a nature-based method in the context of integrated catchment management. An outline of some of the key drivers for peatland restoration was covered and we explored the innovate techniques that are being applied across a range of peatlands in Ireland to deliver a healthier ecosystem.
