In a dense forest thousands of years ago, there lived a wise monkey who was also the king of a thousand monkeys. One day, the wise monkey and his companions were hopping and playing in the forest when they arrived at a place with no water source nearby. Seeing the little monkeys and their mothers suffering from thirst in this new environment, the wise monkey immediately ordered his followers to search for a water source.

After a short while, they found a waterhole. Seeing the thirsty monkeys eager to jump into the waterhole to quench their thirst, the monkey king warned them to stop, as they were unfamiliar with this new place. He, along with his followers, carefully inspected and examined the waterhole and its surroundings. Soon, he noticed some footprints leading to the waterhole but none returning from it. The wise monkey instantly concluded that a dangerous creature must reside in the waterhole.

Upon hearing about the monster in the waterhole, all the monkeys were disheartened. But the wise monkey encouraged them, saying they could still quench their thirst from the waterhole. Since there was a thicket of reeds around the waterhole, they could break the reeds and use their hollow stems to sip water. All the monkeys did as instructed and quenched their thirst.

The monster residing in the waterhole watched them but could do nothing because its power was confined to the waterhole. After quenching their thirst, all the monkeys safely returned to their forest.

Moral of the Story:
This story beautifully illustrates the importance of wisdom and vigilance. In times of crisis, patience and intelligence are crucial. The wise monkey ensured that there was no danger around the waterhole and then cleverly devised a way for the monkeys to drink water safely. Problems can be solved not just with physical strength but also with intelligence and alertness. Effective leadership involves safeguarding the well-being of others and making thoughtful decisions.
