AMAN GUPTA STORY | FOUNDER OF BOAT

Born in 1982 in Delhi, Aman Gupta grew up with a sharp business acumen and a love for music. He pursued commerce at Delhi University, followed by an MBA in Finance and Strategy from the Indian School of Business and Kellogg School of Management, USA. His career began with stints at Citibank and KPMG, but his entrepreneurial spirit soon pushed him toward building something of his own.

In 2016, Aman co-founded boAt, a lifestyle consumer electronics brand focused on affordable, stylish, and durable audio products. The company was created to solve a simple yet widespread problem—high-quality audio accessories in India were either too expensive or lacked durability. boAt’s mission was to make trendy, value-for-money products that resonated with young Indians.

The idea was born when Aman noticed how urban millennials wanted gadgets that were not just functional but also fashionable. Starting with earphones and charging cables designed to withstand daily wear, boAt quickly captured attention with its youth-centric approach, branding itself as a lifestyle brand rather than just a gadget maker.

The journey was far from smooth. Competing against global giants, Aman faced skepticism from investors and challenges in building a supply chain that could balance affordability with quality. Yet, his persistence and sharp marketing strategies—such as influencer-driven campaigns and collaborations with sports icons—helped boAt stand out.
