A 1000-N uniform beam is attached to a vertical wall at one end and is supported by a cable at the other end. The beam is angled at 30° above horizontal, and the cable is angled upward and makes an angle of 40° with the wall. A 80 kg crate hangs from the far end of the beam. Find the tension in the cable and the forces of the hinge on the beam.


NOTE: Error in the calculation for the y-direction hinge force. The correct answer is 919 N, not 1019 N.
