After two trips to havana and staying in several Casas Particulares, I felt ready to make some recommendations. So here's my list of 5 casas that, in my opinion, most travelers won't be disappointed with.
Cuba is different from most other places you'll travel to in that they've been set up for lodging guests in their homes for decades, as it's it's traditionally been one of the only ways Cuban people can make extra money in their tightly controlled economy. Because of this, they are experts at providing the accommodations and services most travelers are looking for when visiting their country.
Please keep in mind that this list is NOT definitive, only drawn from my experience, and I welcome all suggestions and discussion about other accommodations. Also, I limited my casas to the neighborhoods of Central & Vieja because those are MY favorite areas to stay for lot's of reasons I won't go in to here. I am aware I will draw criticism for that ("What? No Vedado?!"), but I have my own personal choices. I love Vedado, I just don't choose to sleep there.

At the time I stayed in these casas, they ranged from $23 (Adys y Luis) to $70 (Casa 303), with the others all being in the $31-$34 range. The prices do vary, depending on the site you choose to book on, so do your research. The links I'm posting are a place to start.
