This was Tuesday 2nd August 1988 and features an initial stop at Penrith for about 1 hour during the mid-morning. Class 86s and 87s on passenger feature along with a Class 91 on a mixed freight.

We arrived at Carlisle just before noon and stayed until 2pm. During that time we saw a good mix of electric and diesel haulage, including so 08 shunter activity which was always interesting. A light engine Class 26 was nice addition, although I'm not sure how common that was at Carlisle back then.
