Culross, a charming village with narrow cobbled lanes lined with 16th and 17th century houses. Indeed, Culross is so old and quaint that in the Outlander TV series the village became Cranesmuir.

Armed with a new camera - a GoPro Hero 12 Black - I wander the byways of this stunning old place and wonder why being in possession of a new camera suddenly makes you realise how good your old camera was.

Starting on the shores of the wide Firth of Forth, we venture by the Palace and the old town house, and head up Back Causway to The Cross. From there we acend the steep Tanhouse Brae towards the remains of Culross Abbey, and the stunning vault of the Bruce of Carnock. It would be difficult not to feel emotional in this little room when faced with the carvings of Sir George Bruce, his wife, and all their children kneeling before us.

Back down Kirk Street towards The Cross, spending a while babbling about the difficulties of technology and new equipment, and then up Hagg's Wynd towards wonderful views down to the whole village and right across the Firth of Forth.

We then descend Hagg's Steps back into the village, where we pause to catch our breath and acknowledge that Spring has sprung, and before us all stands a new year full of hope and promise.
