It is probably the biggest game in this T20 World Cup before we get into the knockouts! With a place in the semi-finals at stake, India take on the West Indies at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata, in the last Super 8 game of the tournament.
Both India and the Men in Maroon had an identical campaign so far, if you go by results rather than overall performances. India topped Group A, while the Windies won Group C as both remained unbeaten.
Both outplayed Zimbabwe in their respective Super 8 games, but were on the receiving end of South Africa's juggernaut. It was a surprise defeat for India, while the West Indies only had themselves to blame against the Proteas, as their batters failed to adapt to the conditions and played reckless cricket. If not for a record partnership between Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd, then the Windies wouldn't have even crossed the 100-run mark after being reduced to 83/7. Both rebuilt and helped the Windies to a fighting 176/8, with Holder scoring a 31-ball 49 and Shepherd remaining unbeaten with a half-century.
However, it wasn't going to be enough against a rampant South African batting line-up as they took the Windies bowling attack to all parts of the venue, reaching home with 9 wickets and 23 balls to spare. Generally, the West Indies bowling had been excellent in this competition, and Akeal Hosein, who missed the last game as part of tactics, might return to the XI.
For India, they ticked most of the boxes against Zimbabwe. Sanju Samson returned to the XI and gave a flying start. Abhishek Sharma was back amongst the runs with a fifty. Ishan Kishan batted at 3 and scored quickly. Suryakumar Yadav didn't hold back and kept the momentum going before Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma finished things nicely. Pandya hit a half-century, while Varma, batting at 6, played according to the situation.
Sammy referred to it as a game between David and Goliath. Just like in 2016, when David defeated Goliath, he has asked his boys to come good again.

The city experienced rains last week, but the coast should be clear on Sunday.

Rinku Singh is expected to be back with the team late Saturday evening after being at his father's funeral, but might not be rushed back into the XI. India should stick with the same combination they used in Chennai against Zimbabwe.
