Victoria Newman is the president of How2LoveOurCops.org . She’s the author of “A CHiP on My Shoulder – How to Love Your Cop with Attitude” and “A Marriage in Progress: Tactical Support for Law Enforcement Relationships.” She’s a national speaker and contributing writer for Law Officer among many many other pursuits. Victoria’s husband is Chief Brent Newman of the California Highway Patrol who recently retired after a 31-year career. 

Victoria’s introduction to law enforcement life was like jumping right in the deep end. Within weeks of their wedding, Brent was in the academy and a move to Los Angeles was ahead of them. Multiple moves, untold critical incidents, too many LODDs and officer suicides later, they have kept their marriage. 

But sometimes, just barely. 

In this episode, Victoria tells the story of why she was ready for a divorce and was preparing to leave. 

But she stuck with it and the payoff is heard as we talk about it in this episode.
