This is the only form of sedation where you may be able to drive yourself home after the procedure. Moderate IV sedation. Deep sedation and general anesthesia. Nitrous oxide helps you deeply relax. Inhaled minimal sedation.

While you are under general anesthesia during your dental procedure, you cannot easily be awakened until the effects of the anesthesia wear off or are reversed with medication. For minimal sedation, you will be prescribed a pill to take the night before your dental procedure so you get a great night's sleep. IV sedation means that you will receive the sedative drug through a vein. We hope you never have a dental emergency, but know that the NYC Dentist we'll be there for you if you need him. The pill will make you relaxed -- you may or may not fall asleep.

Our emergency number is offered to patients when calling our office after hours -- if you are not a current patient please email us using the Inquiry form on the right with the subject Emergency -- we will respond immediately or phone us immediately the NYC Emergency Dentist will fit you into his schedule immediately. After your dental procedure the nitrous oxide tends wear off very quickly so you can return to your daily routine immediately following your dental procedure with no side effect. During your dental procedure you will breathe nitrous oxide ( laughing gas). For the most extreme cases of dental phobia or dental anxiety youwill be administered general anesthesia medications that will make you either almost unconscious or totally unconscious during the procedure.

Nitrous oxide is combined with oxygen and distributed through a mask that's placed over your nose. During your treatment you will be able to either listen to a musical CD selection or steaming music. IV sedation is administered by the dentist if you have intense dental phobia or dental anxiety. The next day you will take a pill about an hour before you come to the dentist's office.

This type of dental sedation allows the dentist to continually adjust the level of sedation. Depending on the dose that you are administered by the NYC Dentist, oral sedation can range from minimal to moderate (this of course varies from patient to patient).
