My Epic Steam Adventure: Episode 6 - Cass Scenic Railroad's Greenbrier Express

Описание к видео My Epic Steam Adventure: Episode 6 - Cass Scenic Railroad's Greenbrier Express

Cass, West Virginia is known as a logging town, and home to the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, a living tribute to the lumberman and geared steam locomotives that worked deep in the Allegheny Mountains. Since 1901, it's been connected to the outside world through the Chesapeake and Ohio's Greenbrier Branch, which reached Cass by following the scenic Greenbrier River. Although mostly abandoned in the 1970's, the 14 mile connection north to Durbin remained in operation until 1985, when a historic flood wiped out the track in several sections.

In 2022, the last section of track was repaired, and for the first time in 37 years, trains were able to run the complete line. In 2023, the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad, which also operates Cass Scenic Railroad, began operating passenger excursions between Cass and Durbin, called the Greenbrier Express.
