Venice Florida 2024 Megalodon Tooth Scuba Trip Continues

Its a long drive to Venice Florida from Summerville South Carolina, so I planned to dive 4 days. Last week's video was the first day when Diva went. She gets really sea sick so she only wanted to go on the first day, and she planned to hunt around town the rest of our time down there. Last month the weezling and megamouth booked a trip down but they got blown out by the weather, so when I told my son that Diva was only going the first day, he got ahold of our captain and snapped up the other three days. We don't get to hunt together much these days so I was thrilled at the opportunity to dive with him again. We hunt out topside which was awesome, but he's like a fish so once he hit the water he was gone and I only ran into him a couple times on the bottom, even with the amazing visibility. Venice almost always has better viso than South Carolina, but this trip the viso is especially good. We can just swim 3 or 4 feet off the bottom and when we see a megalodon tooth, we can swoop and scoop. That's the idea anyway. On day 2 we went down south so the teeth are more scattered and it required a lot more swimming to find anything. Day 3 we went out a little further offshore from the bone yard spot, and that would probably have been more productive had the yard crew visited recently because the grass was out of control. One spot it completely covered the bottom and I was the first in. I made a wide circle of the boat and I came back up quickly to tell the captain there was no formation visible, just weeds and he told me to go back down and swim around and look for it. I said OK and kept on searching. The weezling dropped in right after me and he heard the instructions so he did the same thing. We swam around the whole dive, covered hundreds of yards, and found nothing. It was a disappointing dive. When I was out of air, I came back to the boat and I was the first diver up. The captain asked if I found anything and I said, "nope. nothing but grass just like I told you." and he said that everyone else had popped back up to tell him the same thing but since he had already told me to keep going he knew I wasn't coming back to the boat so everyone ended up diving on that spot and nobody was happy with the results. Oh well, at least the other spots were decent so at the end of the day everyone had at least found something. I put these two days together because collecting wasn't great for me. I found teeth, just most of them were broken and I didn't take many videos. Only one more day to find a trip maker! Check back next week to see how that worked out.
