Jib and I recently visited the Chakrabongse Vintage Antique Fair here in Bangkok, Thailand. This was the second year for the fair but was the first time for Jib and me to visit. Neither of us are antique collectors but are both interested in design, particularly Thai design so we thought this would be a fun way to spend a morning.

This palace is very close to the Grand Palace in Bangkok, which is actually where Jib studies Thai embroidery. The area surrounding the Grand Palace is beautiful, it has tree-lined streets and some of the most stunning classic Thai architecture.

The fair itself was rather small but the goods that were on display were, for the most part excellent. We had an excellent time at the antique fair and would certainly go back next year if they have it again.

We had hoped to also make it over to Bangkok Denim day, but that didn't work out as the times just didn't line up. Hopefully next time.

One of the things about the location of the fair that was really interesting was that the palace it was held in belongs to Thai-American singer Hugo, who is probably best known for his version of Jay Zs 99 problems. I don't think anyone actually lives in this palace today, but it is a beautiful location, and I guess an interesting little fact about it to share.
