A new 14,000-square-foot facility, the Indian Creek Community Innovation Center, is set to open in Jefferson County by late 2026.

The project, costing over $6 million, is part of a collaborative effort involving the Jefferson County Community Action Council, Jefferson County ESC, and WVU Medicine. The initiative is funded through the Ohio Appalachian Community Innovation Center Grant Program.

"The ESC is going to provide the Quest Center," Indian Creek Superintendent T.C. Chappelear said. 'The Community Action Council is going to use that space part-time as an Ohio Means Jobs access point, and we're also going to have an express care for the healthcare aspect of the grant."

The center aims to serve students from kindergarten through eighth grade, focusing on enhancing mental health care options and education.

"It's aimed not only at Indian Creek students but students throughout Jefferson County and even some of the surrounding counties," Chappelear said. "Part of the healthcare aspect will be a youth partial day treatment program for students that have mental health needs."

Additionally, the facility will include a healthcare center to address basic medical needs.
