Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam [TVK] chief Vijay led a protest in Chennai demanding justice for Ajith Kumar, a 29-year-old temple security guard who died in police custody in Sivagangai last month. He slammed the DMK government for the growing number of "atrocities" in the State. Thousands of supporters joined the actor-turned-politician in the protest. TVK called for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the supervision of the Madras High Court to conduct a thorough probe into the case. The Tamil Nadu government has already transferred the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
