In this talk Professor Baron Peter Piot, Director, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, discusses the current state of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the urgent imperative to better prepare for future waves and the looming threat of another major epidemic.

He debates the idea that the world may be entering an age of pandemics as a result of our increasing inability to live in harmony with nature and natural ecosystems, as well as the need to strengthen the global preparedness of systems for future health threats in order to mitigate their human, social, and economic impacts. And, crucially, what can be done today to ensure no one is left behind when the next pandemic strikes.
