There’s a big difference between some of the ATM fees on Mexican ATMs.

**Recommendations:

At whatever ATM you use, always press the "Decline" option when it shows the conversion. This is deceptive on their part, as it makes you think that it will just cancel the transaction, but instead it will just print out the money with the conversion rate of your bank, which will be much better.

If you can get a Charles Schwab checking account, you won't pay any more international ATM fees. Schwab will credit those fees back to your account.

If you're from the US and using a Bank of America card, use Scotiabank ATMS, they won't charge the international fee

Always use a debit card when withdrawing funds from the ATM. When using a credit card for purchases you will be charged an international fee of 1-3%. We use cash back cards to offset this fee. Discover is rarely accepted in Mexico. Mastercard & Visa are your best bet for using credit cards.
