Das Damen was a New York band that formed in 1984. The band has musical stylings that were influenced by punk, psychedelic rock, progressive rock, and college rock. This EP/MiniAlbum was their first official release on the Ecstatic Peace! label, which was owned by Thurston Moore, the guitarist and singer in the band Sonic Youth. That same year, SST signed Das Damen and reissued their first release under the more recognized, SST label. SST was more recognized label because the label is responsible for releasing albums by Black Flag, the Minutemen, Meat Puppets, Sonic Youth, the Descendents, Soundgarden, and many others. The band went on to release two more albums on SST, but did not have much success. The band then went to Twin/Tone records to release another album, but the lead singer left the band in 1989 after the release of the album "Mousetrap". The band got a new lead singer and mover to the City Slang label. After the release of a live album and another EP, the band split in 1991.
