Science played a major role in the renovation of the historic Pinehurst #2 Golf Course. The USGA hopes the environmentally-friendly redesign, which follows the original 1907 design plan for the course and debuts at the 2014 US Open, will be a model for courses in the future. By using fewer chemicals, less mowing, and cutting water usage in half, money was saved and native biological diversity has returned. The course, filled with native plants needing less care, matches the Sandhills environment. Watch as the USGA and PGA adjust their angle of attack to preserve nature at the historic Pinehurst #2 Golf Course.
