Before almond pollination begins, we’re checking our bees to see if they actually make almond grade. These hives have been sitting in a California holding yard since December, and with bloom just weeks away, this is the moment that matters. In this video, we break down what almond-ready colonies really look like, how we evaluate strength, brood, food stores, and cluster size, and what it takes to meet the eight-frame average required for almond pollination.

We also walk through our winter feeding strategy, pollen and fondant use, queen laying patterns, and how we manage weak hives versus colonies that are already boiling over.
