In this video, the craftsman shares a tile-cutting technique, using a caliper tile cutter. He needs to cut a circle on a tile and uses it very effectively. A caliper tile cutter (or caliper glass cutter) consists of: an adjustable body/frame (to change the cutting radius), a rotating shaft and a vacuum suction base (to hold it securely on the tile/glass surface), and an alloy blade (made from tungsten carbide, super hard) to create precise and deep cuts, producing regular circles or arcs.
Compass-style tile cutters are highly effective in creating precise circular cuts (holes) on tiles and glass, saving labor, and are highly durable thanks to high-quality materials (such as hard alloys). They are easy to adjust the diameter and are suitable for meticulous decorative and installation work such as making circular holes for water pipes and ceiling fans, ensuring superior aesthetics and accuracy compared to conventional manual cutting.
