Responsible for transforming the Brazilian truck market by presenting to the consumer the concept of Sport Utility Pick-up (SUP) – which combines the comfort and driveability of an SUV with the strength, robustness and practicality of a pickup truck with capacity for five people and one ton of total cargo – Fiat Toro undergoes its most important evolution since launch, in 2016.
A unique model in its segment for serving work and leisure, with an ideal size for an urban pickup truck and very favorable cost-benefit in front of larger competitors, Fiat Toro has been the choice of almost 300,000 customers so far.
This result quickly placed the pickup in second place in sales in Brazil, behind only the new Fiat Strada, leader of its category for 23 years. This makes Fiat the largest seller of vehicles of its kind and the brand that most understands the consumer of pickup truck in national territory. With the arrival of Toro to the market, Fiat, which had 33.1% of market share of the entire segment in 2015, rose to 55.1% today. This means that one in every two pickup trucks of all categories sold in the country leave the concessionaires of the Italian-Brazilian brand.
In its first renovation, Fiat encountered a very particular challenge in updating such a unique model. Supported by customer surveys and extensive trend studies, the brand has developed its new vehicle on four pillars: Design, Performance, Connectivity and Technology.
A reference in design that goes beyond its segment, the New Fiat Toro MY22 brings an even more modern design at the front, which includes logo script and Fiat Flag, new hood, grille, wheels and bull bar integrated with the bumper. The pickup also gained completely renovated interior, with new instrument panel and center console. The change allowed almost doubling to 26 liters the storage capacity of the object carriers.
One of the most notable novelties of the pickup is performance. The New Fiat Toro debuts the most modern, powerful and torque-boosted turbo flex engine produced in Brazil. There are 185 horses and 270 Nm of torque with ethanol. It also brings versions with aspirated flex engine and diesel, with automatic transmission of 6 or 9 gears. For urban or off-road use, with 4x2 or 4x4 tractions. A vehicle that allows to meet all tastes and needs of transportation, work or leisure, providing pleasure in driving as few vehicles in the market.
The future has arrived for the new 2022 Fiat Toro. So much so that the pickup, in the area of connectivity, now offers wireless smartphone charger, a new multimedia center of up to 10.1" positioned vertically and a complete platform of connected services unprecedented in the Brazilian market. Remotely and with all convenience, the user starts to count, in the palm of his hand with his mobile phone, for example, with maintenance, security and emergency services, navigation, virtual assistance and entertainment in the vehicle with dedicated Wi-Fi, in a fully immersive experience for the customer. All this made possible by the partnership with TIM Brazil, leader in 4G coverage and with the largest Internet of Things (IoT) network in the country. The partnership with TIM Brasil was announced at the end of October 2020, and includes the provision of eSIM, virtual chip for internet access, enabling navigation and user experience within the vehicle, expanding the experience of connectivity with content and quality.
The truck also gained technology items that put it at a prominent level in front of even larger vehicles in the segment. One of them is the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with autonomous emergency braking, lane change warning and automatic switching of headlights, driver assistance equipment that offers more driving comfort and, mainly, safety for drivers and passengers. There are also Full LED headlights, 100% LED front lighting system that improves headlight performance by 30%, and Cluster Full Digital 7''. Serial content in all versions, the 100% digital instrument panel with TFT screen provides a better view of information with full images and messages.
It's clear that the new Toro has become much more attractive to buy. And to keep it will be no different because after-sales is another aspect that has evolved significantly. For versions with the new Turbo 270 engine, the package of the first three revisions has the most competitive value of the segment, costing less even than in the current Fiat Toro 1.8. Mopar has worked equally hard to offer the largest list of accessories among all pickup trucks. There are, for example, new stirrups, carpets and even a rigid aluminum bucket top, which can be electric driven.
New Fiat Toro 2022 line consists of nine versions and will be on the brand's dealer network, composed of about 520 stores throughout Brazil, starting On May 15.
