TOTAL 68 STOLEN/SNATCHED MOBILE PHONES HAVE BEEN RECOVERED FROM THIS GANG
33 CASES OF SNATCHING/THEFT WORKED OUT WITH FULL RECOVERY
The team of Anti Snatching Cell, South West District has busted an entire racket involved in mobile phone smuggling and arrested four accused persons namely (1) Milan Sharestha S/o Bhagat Narain Sharestha R/o Likhu Tamakoshi, District- Rameshhap, Nepal Age 28 years (2) Naeem @ Golu S/o Gyasuddin R/o K36, Kila Kadam Sharif, Nabi Karim, Pahad Ganj, Delhi Age 22 years (3) Farman @ Rupesh S/o Rahman R/o L369 & 361, Laxman Puri, Nabi Karim, New Delhi aged 23 years & (4) Amir S/o Abdul Nasir R/o 2629/2690 Shamshi Cottage, Chudiwalan, Jama Masjid, Delhi Age 32 years. The gang is involved in smuggling of mobile phone from India to Nepal and total 68 stolen/snatched mobile phones have been recovered from their possession and 33 cases of snatching/theft worked out with full recovery.
INCIDENT, TEAM & ARREST:
On 06/08/22, an incident of I-phone snatching was reported at PS-Kishan Garh in which complainant reported that he is studying in IIT Campus, Delhi and was standing in front of IIT Gate, when one boy came on bike and snatched his mobile phone and ran away. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No 372/22 U/S 356/379 IPC PS- Kishangarh was registered and investigation was taken up. During investigation accused Farman @ Rupesh was arrested by the Anti Snatching Cell and 08 snatched/theft mobile phone were recovered from his possession.
During the interrogation, the accused Farman @ Rupesh disclosed that a gang of mobile smugglers including him are operating in Delhi and used to snatch/theft mobile phones and further sold to one receiver cum snatcher namely Naeem @ Golu. The information received from Farman @ Rupesh was developed and on the basis of technical surveillance, the accused Naeem @ Golu was arrested and three snatched /theft mobile phones and one Pistol was recovered from his possession. In this regard a case U/s 25/54/59 Arms Act & 411/413/120B IPC PS-VK North was registered & the accused was arrested. During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed that he is snatcher and small dealer of stolen mobile phones. He receives the snatched/ stolen mobile phones from snatchers/thieves and further sells those stolen mobile phones to Amir, who are active in Pahar Ganj, Gaffar Mkt, Jama Masjid area. He further sells it to international mobile smuggler namely Milan, who is resident of Nepal.
During the analysis, it was learnt that this is interlinked chain of criminals dealing in stolen/snatched mobile phones where some dealers active in Gaffar Mkt, Paharganj and Jama Masjid are receivers of snatched/stolen mobile phones and they further sell these mobile phones to Milan. Milan is international mobile smuggler and residing in Nepal. During investigation, technical surveillance was mounted but surprisingly no snatched I Phone was found being used in India. This also created suspicion that snatched/stolen I-Phones are being smuggled out side India in a well-planned manner.
The above all information was shared with senior officers and team of Anti Snatching Cell headed by Insp Mukesh Kumar in the supervision of Sh Devendra Kumar Singh, ACP/Operation, South West was tasked to nab the above mobile smugglers and succeeded to locate a Delhi based criminal namely Amir who used to sell the snatched/stolen mobile phones to Milan. Amir is a habitual receiver of stolen mobile phones from the snatchers/pick-picketers from various parts of Delhi. Milan used to come Delhi from Nepal to meet Amir and some others mobile dealers for purchasing of snatched/stolen mobile phones.
Later, acting on a secret tip off, the team apprehended one person namely Milan and one person ran away, later he was also arrested and total 57 mobile phones were recovered from their possession. Most of which were found to be stolen from Delhi & NCR. The accused Milan disclosed that one of his friend Ramesh, who also lives in Nepal and runs a mobile showroom in Nepal, is in contact with many mobile phone dealers in India. On the direction of Ramesh, he purchased stolen mobile phones from India and took them with him to Nepal.
