Here are some RED Flags to look out for:
1 - Most are Male (posing as older Caucasian or Asian)
2 - Marital Status shows Divorce or Widowed (with child or not)
3 - Convert / Revert to Islam (Most of the times they are NOT Muslim)
4 - Profession is set as Military, Construction, or any other profession that requires them to move around a lot
5 - Salary usually 100K +
6 - Use little to no Islamic terms in their conversations
7 - Photos are taken from the Internet or of other known "scammers" or professionals overseas
8 - Content written about themselves has a lot of grammatical errors, or is too perfect (almost unreal (too good to be true)
9 - Their MAIN Target are OLDER WOMEN DIVORCED / WIDOW / SINGLE PARENT
10 - Messages sent has incomplete sentences or contains really broken English
11 - Sends multiple messages within the first day of communicating
12 - Give the excuse their account is about to Expire and will be closing their account and ask for your personal email or phone number. They may also provide their contact information so you can take the conversation off the platform you are using (matrimonial site or app)
13 - They play with your "Emotions" - When communicating on your personal email or phone, they give you a "sad story how they lost their wife" or how they have struggled to find someone etc...Anything to make you feel "sorry for them"
14 - They also try to convince you by making arrangements to meet with your family etc. They move fast with trying to get you to feel they are really interested in getting married to you
15 - Once they get you to feel sorry for them, they try to get you to send them money and at times make threats. If they do not see you will give in to their story by asking too many questions they will just stop contacting you (they do not like to waste time on one person)

ALERT - NEVER PROVIDE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION THE FIRST OR SECOND DAY OF COMMUNICATING WITH SOMEONE.

TIP - Get to know the person first for sometime on the platform you are using BEFORE providing your personal contact information. Then get on a call when you are comfortable with someone else around to see if the person is "real". Arrange to meet with your Mahram to ensure your safety and sincerity of the person. (It also helps to get another view of the person)

Never join a Site or App IF there is no support or help when you encounter a potential scammer. Ensure the platform you are using has the ability to scan and remove fake profiles.
