Clothing alterations, repairs, and sustainable sewing - this week is all about making clothes wearable and loved again.

I spent the week working on a mix of garments for friends, adjusting fits, reinforcing delicate areas, fixing broken straps, and repairing damage, all with the aim of keeping these pieces in use rather than replacing them.

There’s a range of alterations in here, from resizing jeans and skirts, to reworking dungarees, to mending a jumpsuit with visible embroidery using scrap fabric. Some changes are small, some make a big difference, but they all come back to the same idea: the most sustainable thing we can do is wear what we already own.
