Fly Fishing for 1 Hour: How Many Trout Can I Catch? (Brook Trout)

How many fish do you think you could catch in 1 hour? Well in this video I set out to answer just that question.

I chose to fish a small creek for native brook trout - arguably one of the easiest fish species to catch if you know where they live. They're the cutthroat trout of the eastern US. Not only that but I chose a stream that I heard was high in numbers, but not size. Which set up perfectly for this type of numbers challenge.

I fished with a smaller size 16 elk hair caddis the entire video, which is one of my favorite dry flies! I started off hot and caught almost a fish per minute for the first 20 minutes or so before having a string of bad luck. My bad luck cost me 3 lost fish and 2 flies (both of which were stuck in a tree). This evened out to me being able to land 23 fish total in 60 minutes of fishing, which I'm happy with. I think anything over 20 is incredible!

So how many fish do you think you could catch in an hour? I think caching 5-10 under normal circumstances would be outstanding, but there have been many hours where I haven't caught much of anything. This was a fun video to film and I hope you guys and girls enjoyed it!
