Speaker Bio:
Prof. Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay is a professor in library and information science and the head of the department of library and information science at Kalyani University. Prof. Mukhopadhyay, a recipient of the Best Young LIS Teacher Award (IASLIC), is an open source enthusiast and has worked as a developer and promoter of many open source projects. He is presently a member of the Koha and VuFind international developer teams, two of the most visible open source solutions in the domain of library and information science. He has more than 150 papers in journals and conference volumes and five books in his beeline. His recent book on interoperability and retrieval was published by UNESCO in Paris. Prof. Mukhopadhyay acted as a metadata consultant for the NDL (National Digital Library), hosted by IIT Kharagpur. He is presently a member of the Advisory Committee for the National Virtual Library Project of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. He developed Vidya Online as an e-learning portal for Vidyasagar University in 2006 and is currently running three online courses on the SWAYAM platform. He is presently an Associate Editor for the Journal of Information and Knowledge (one of the oldest LIS journals in India, initiated by S. R. Ranganathan, the father of library science in India).
