Elena L. Botelho is coauthor of The CEO Next Door and partner in leadership advisory firm ghSMART. Elena L. Botelho explains why adaptability is one of four behaviors that her data indicates are key to be a successful CEO. According to the statistics, CEOs who were seen as adaptable were seven times more likely to be successful. Botelho explains that adaptability means that leaders were able to let go past assumptions, business models, companies, or beliefs that got in the way of moving forward. She provides an example where leaders were able to take failure and turn it into a positive.
