HISstory HERstory THEIRstory OURstory: Storytelling as Resilience is an initiative to increase awareness and knowledge of HIV, and to break down the barriers of HIV/AIDS stigma in indigenous communities through the tradition of storytelling.

Profile Story: Brud Lum - Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian)
Born and raised in Mō`ili`ili, Oahu, Brad Lum is an HIV/AIDS long-term survivor who is a caring, strong community leader for the Native Hawaiian and LGBTQ communities. Brad is a dedicated Kumu Hula and a teacher of tolerance in the DOE system for the past 23 years. He served as the CEO of Hulumanu Foundation, whose task was how to better serve LGBGTQ youth. Brad is currently on the Board of Directors for the Hawaiian Youth Coalition, Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network, EndMeth Hawai`i, and Native Hawaiian Caucus of the Democratic Party of Hawai`i. He is a strong supporter and leader for Equality Hawai`i, Mauna Kea Movement and Black Lives Matters. Brad’s goal is to embrace tolerance and to be humble towards one another, showing Aloha and the spirit that binds us together.
