The West African Examinations Council through its representative, the Chairman of the Nigeria National Committee of WAEC, Hajia Binta Abdulkadir says it has complied with the directive of the Ministry of Education to shift the full implementation of the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination to 2027.

Speaking at the 63rd Opening Session of the Nigeria National Committee Meeting in Umuahia, Chairman of the NNC of WAEC, Hajia Abdulkadir, said the 2026 WASSCE will now serve only as a pilot test for the full CBT format. She explained that students will have the option to write their examinations either through computer-based testing or the traditional paper-and-pen method.
