What does a DJ producer do?

A DJ/Producer makes their own music so they can play it in front of an audience. What is this? Many prominent DJs gained popularity by remixing other artist's songs and releasing them for people to listen to. The popular songs made those artists famous.

Can all producers DJ?
DJs can be producers, but not all producers have to be DJs, and vice versa. Nowadays, being able to mix a DJ set seems to come with the territory of being a successful and flourishing music producer.

Do DJs own their music?
Sometimes. Some DJs will do the whole composition whereas some have producers create most or all of their music. In songs with vocalists, it seems most of them the vocalist will create the lyrics and the DJ/producer will write the track around that.
