In this video we visit the new Clayton station on grand opening day on the 16th April 2018. Clayton station was the second station rebuilt along the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines as part of the project to remove all nine remaining level crossings on the line between Caulfield and Dandenong. Clayton station was rebuilt above ground on a concrete elevated viaduct dubbed 'Skyrail' to remove the two level crossings at Clayton Road and Centre Road.

We start the video from the get go; being one of the first passengers to touch on at the new station and seeing the first Metro train to use the station at 4:53am. Filmed during the early morning and the start of the morning peak we mostly see Comeng's EMU's (including some life-extended sets which were relatively new back then) and a couple of V/Line trains including Vlocitiy DMU's and a N Class locomotive hauled train. There were relatively few Siemens trains on this particular morning. We also see locomotive G515 with the Hanson/APEX quarry train to Westall.

Not everything went to plan during the opening morning. There were a couple of minor delays on the Cranbourne/Pakenham lines and the first V/Line train that was supposed to stop at the station (the 4:36am Traralgon - Melbourne service) was cancelled after it broke down near Yarragon, causing major delays for V/Line trains all morning.

Afterwards we then return to the new station in the afternoon where we see some more Comeng trains, a lone Siemens train, and a V/Line Vlocity.
