STORYLINE:
Police watched on as students in Amsterdam held a pro-Palestinian protest on Monday, occupying halls at a university.

Footage showed police in riot gear, some with dogs on leads, lined up in front of a group of protesters who chanted "We are peaceful, what are you?" at officers.

Student protests have been gaining momentum across Europe, following similar action at U.S. universities.

The Israel-Hamas war triggered by Hamas' attack on southern Israel on October 7 in which 1,200 people were killed and around 250 people were taken hostage.

More than 35,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed since Israel launched its offensive in Gaza in response, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which doesn’t distinguish between civilians and combatants in its figures.

Israel says it has killed over 13,000 militants, without providing evidence.
