This is one of the popular group dance of the Tharu women folk of western Terai is Sakhiya dance which is performed during Dashya and Dewari (Dadhain and Deepawali Festival). In Sakhiya dance the girl dancers move rhythmically to the beat of the madal holding handkerchiefs in their hands. It is performed during the Maghi and Dashain festival. This Dance is performed during Sakhya Dance starts after Astimki (The birth ceremony of LORD KRISHNA).
